Loretto Chapel
This chapel is a beautiful Gothic-Revival style chapel. It's construction was completed in 1878. I just love the architecture of this building. It was just so fascinating to look at. I wish I could have taken more pictures to share. I planned ahead, charged my camera, even remembered to take it with me! But.... forgot the memory card! So, with my camera's limited internal memory, this is all I was able to get.
The real reason I was in Santa Fe yesterday was to work. Yes, I said that four letter word! The historic La Fonda Hotel has this amazing dining area that was just completely remodeled and looks just gorgeous. I work during the day in "interior plant~scaping". We were commissioned to bring in two 16 foot ficus trees and put the twinkly lights all over them. Now this seemed like it would be an easy enough job with a little fun sight seeing thrown in. The trees, ordered all the way from Florida, were scheduled for delivery by 9am, but due to unforeseen delays, they did not arrive to the hotel until 7pm in the evening. Makes for a long day of waiting. So once the trees were in place the "fun" (scary) job of climbing up and down a 12 ft ladder to place the strands of lights began. With a team of 3 people we were able to get both trees completed by around 10:30 pm and I was finally back home in Albuquerque at midnight. Boy, am I beat today!
